5-year-old Bradenton Boy Seriously Injured In Pedestrian Accident

The boy was playing with friends when he crossed the street and into the path of the car.

BRADENTON - A 5-year-old was struck and seriously injured by a car driving north on 5th Street East approaching 60th Avenue Drive East on Wednesday night, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

Samuel Louis-Gene, 5, of Bradenton was walking east on the south shoulder of 60th Avenue Drive East and playing with two friends. Samuel ran across the road into the path of the Toyota Camry driven by Ashley Bronson, 23, of Bradenton, FHP reports. The accident occurred about 7:48 p.m.

Samuel was taken by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries.

Bronson and a 1-year-old passenger were not injured in the accident. FHP reports no charges were filed.
