5-Year-Old Pulled From Bradenton Family's Pool Dies: Police

A 5-year-old Bradenton girl who was pulled from a family pool unresponsive has died after she was removed from life support, police said.

BRADENTON, FL — A 5-year-old girl who was found unresponsive in a family pool on Sunday afternoon died overnight after being removed from life support, Bradenton Police said Wednesday.

A family member spotted the child in the pool about 4:40 p.m. Sunday and pulled her from the water. Police said the family member and a neighbor performed CPR until EMS arrived and revived the child.

She was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.

The girl apparently wandered out of the home in the 2500 block of 11th Avenue East and fell into the pool, police said. The home security system alerted the homeowner a door had opened, prompting the family member to search for her.

The drowning appears accidental. The investigation is active and ongoing.
