AMICCO Announces New Chorus Master

Daniel Hoffman has been named the Chorus Master of the AMICCO Chorus.

Maestro Alfred Gershfeld, the Anna Maria Island Concert Chorus & Orchestra (AMICCO) Board of Directors, and the AMICCO Membership are pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Hoffman as Chorus Master of the AMICCO Chorus.

"Jim Stoltie, AMICCO Board President, expressed how pleased AMICCO is that Dan Hoffman is returning as our Chorus Master - Dan's impressive background and resume, his knowledge of choral music and experience in conducting choirs and large musical productions and his contagious enthusiasm make him the perfect fit for our organization."

Hoffman is an honors graduate of world-renowned Indiana University School of Music, where he studied choral conducting and garnered experience with such luminaries as Robert Shaw, Leonard Bernstein and Julius Rudel. Daniel has experience working with symphonic and chamber choirs and has directed music programs for churches. In addition, he has been the music director, stage director and/or choreographer for many stage productions. He is also a composer and music arranger, with works including a full-length Broadway-style musical.

Daniel is an accomplished bass-baritone and has performed with such opera companies as Cincinnati Opera, Kentucky Opera, Nashville Opera and the Tennessee Opera Theater. Currently, in addition to his role as Chorus Master for AMICCO, Daniel is the Assistant Director of Music for The First United Methodist Church in Sarasota and is a Choral Artist with Gloria Musicae. Hoffman has been a section leader and a favorite of AMICCO audiences appearing frequently as a soloist with rave reviews.

Daniel is also a graduate of the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky and a member of The Florida Bar.

Hoffman said “I am looking forward to a great season of choral excellence and the opportunity to again work as Chorus Master for the organization. I look forward to the opportunity of sharing my musical knowledge with the performing artists. My primary goal is enhance each person's musical and vocal abilities so they are proud and honored to be a part of AMICCO and are able to deliver a quality product to the community.”

Join Mr. Hoffman for the 2016-17 AMICCO Concert season to hear the splendid and well known AMICCO chorus. AMICCO concert dates are: December 11 - “A Holiday Celebration” featuring selections from Handel’s Messiah and Holiday Favorites at CrossPointe Fellowship, 8605 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach; February 11 and 12 - Johannes Brahms, Nanie op. 82, and Young Artist performances including Haydn’s Cello Concerto, Weber’s Concertino for Clarinet, and Bruch’s Violin Concerto; February 11 – out East at Northminster Presbyterian, 3131 61st Street, Sarasota and February 12 at Kirkwood Presbyterian, 6101 Cortez Road, Bradenton; March 26 - AMICCO presents “Three Tenors” showcasing guest vocalists of national and international renown, accompanied by the AMICCO orchestra and chorus at Kirkwood Presbyterian in Bradenton.
