Anna Maria Oyster Bar Raises Nearly $7,000 for the American Cancer Society
The company took part in the Sarasota-Manatee Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.

BRADENTON, FL – The employees of Anna Maria Oyster Bar found a pearl when it came to raising money for breast cancer research.
John Horne, the owner of the Anna Maria Oyster Bar restaurant group, recently presented a check for $6,856 to the American Cancer Society for their efforts in supporting Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Sarasota-Manatee.
The restaurant group fielded a team, “Cancer Can Shuck Off,” for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event at the Sarasota Polo Club on Saturday, Oct. 22. The four restaurants in the Anna Maria Oyster Bar restaurant group, located in Landside, Cortez, Ellenton and on the Bradenton Bridge Street Pier, participated in a month-long fundraiser to raise money for the team.

The restaurants collected donations for Making Strides Against Cancer from 50/50 drawings, T-shirt sales, raffle prizes and through its signature Save the Coconuts drink.
The Anna Maria Oyster Bar “Cancer Can Shuck Off” team featured 35 employees, including Horne, who participated in the 5K walk. The restaurant group also catered the Survivor Luncheon for the third year in a row.

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer for Sarasota and Manatee counties raised $231,398.75 and featured 257 teams with 1,980 participants.
