Armed Men Kick Down Door Looking For a Safe

The couple inside fought back and ran.

Two men armed with a shotgun and a handgun kicked in the door of a west Bradenton home early Tuesday to rob the couple inside, authorities said.

While the men apparently hoped to get a safe out of the residence in the 4500 block of 68th Street West, they left instead with just $16, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report.

When the men broke into the home shortly before 1 a.m. they demanded to know where the couple kept their safe. One of the men went to the bedrooms on the east side of the residence while the other went to the bedroom on the west side of the triplex, the report shows.
