Armed Robbery at Lucky Leprechaun Pawn Shop Friday Afternoon

After brandishing a handgun and demanding money, the suspect fled on foot.

The Lucky Leprechaun Gold and Pawn Shop was robbed on Friday afternoon after a man entered the establishment, brandished a handgun and demanded money from the clerk.

According to the police report, a black male entered the premises, located at 4804 Manatee Ave. W., at approximately 3:00 p.m. A conversation ensued, at which time the man pulled out a handgun and demanded money.

The suspect then demanded the clerk, identified as 55-year-old shop owner lay on the floor, at which time the suspect took two handguns and money.

According to the report, the suspect then fled on foot. 

Manatee County Sheriff's Deputies set up a perimeter, and the K-9 unit tracked the subject east bound on the north side of Manatee Avenue West.  The suspect eluded capture. It is unknown if a vehicle was nearby.

The Sheriff's Department reported that the suspect is a male, approximately 35 years of age, 5-foot 9-inches tall weighing 185 pounds.

The suspect is described as wearing blue jeans, a green military type jacket and silver-framed glasses carrying a blue steel hand gun.
