Australian Shepherds Attack Boy Riding Bike, Man Who Helped Him, Deputies Say

A teenage boy and the 67-year-old man who tried to help him were attacked by a pair of Australian Shepherd Monday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the attack occurred when the 13-year-old boy was riding his bicycle on Morning Glory Way. The boy was bitten by the dogs and required treatment at a local hospital. The Sheriff's Office described the bites as "severe."

A 67-year-old man who tried to help the teenager also was bitten, deputies said.

The dogs were picked up by Manatee County Animal Services.
