A 38-year-old Bradenton woman and 25-year-old Palmetto were killed. Manatee Memorial Hospital was on lockdown with 16 victims inside.
A 38-year-old Bradenton woman and 25-year-old man were killed when at least two shooters opened fire inside in a Palmetto bar just after midnight.
Gwenette Matthews, 38 of Bradenton, was found dead inside the club and Trayon Goff, 25 of Palmetto, was found dead outside of the club’s front door, according to a Palmetto Police Department report.
The shooting at Club Elite, 704 10th Street West in Palmetto, happened at about 12:30 a.m. At least two shooters opened fire on the crowd at the front of the club, according to the report.

There are various reports about the shooters. Some witnesses said they slowly rolled by the club in a car while shooting. Others have said they saw one or two on foot.
Twenty-two other people were hit by gunfire, according to police reports. The six most seriously wounded were taken by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center. One victim is in critical condition. Another 16 gunshot victims were taken to the emergency room at Manatee Memorial Hospital where most were treated and released.

The shooters fled the scene and no arrests have been made. Investigators are aggressively pursuing leads in this case. Club Elite did have video surveillance of the club and the Palmetto Police department is reviewing the video, said Lt. Scott Tyler.
Manatee Memorial was on lockdown as it treated shooting victims Saturday, said a nursing supervisor. She said it was routine for the hopsital to go on lockdown while treating a shooting victim. Most of the victims were treated and released this morning. One victim was admitted to the hospital, she said.
Manatee Memorial had to divert other emergency cases for about an hour because the emergency room was at capacity, the nursing supervisor said.
Palmetto police are trying to sort through the rumors and eye-witness testimony and hope to have an arrest soon, Tyler said.
"We have good leads," he added.
Tyler said that before the club will be allowed to reopen the police department will reach out to the club owners about security issues.
The Manatee Sheriff's office crime scene investigators were at the club on Tuesday collecting evidence inside and outside of the club. The sheriff's office is working with the police department on the case.
The police collected dozens of rifle rounds that indicated there were at least two high powered rifles involved in the shooting. Based on the size of the rounds, one may have been an AK-47.
