Bradenton Man Dies After Crash
A 63-year-old Bradenton man died Monday after his Dodge Dakota ran a stop sign and was struck by another vehicle, according to FHP.

BRADENTON, FL -- A 63-year-old Bradenton man died Monday after his Dodge Dakota ran a stop sign and was struck by another vehicle, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 10 a.m. at 61st Street E and 28th Avenue E. FHP identified the driver as James Pietarila, who died at Manatee Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the other vehicle, a Dodge Journey, was identified as Stacey-Lynn Carpanzano.

She too was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, according to FHP, which said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Pietarila was heading north on 28th Avenue E approaching the intersection of 61st Street E when he failed to stop for a stop sign.

The 46-year-old Carpanzano was heading east on 61st Street E. approaching the intersection of 28th Avenue E at the time of the crash.
FHP said Carpanzano attempted to steer away from Pietarila's vehicle but was unable to do so.
FHP said Pietarila's vehicle entered a ditch along 61st Street E and struck a tree as well as a guy wire. Carpanzano's vehicle was partly in the ditch.
