Police: Man Waves Gun At Family Members, Arrested After Crash

20-year-old Christian Tejada pulled a gun on his mother and brother and was arrested after chase while en route to withdraw money from the bank, police say.

A 20-year-old Brandenton man was arrested late Friday night after crashing his vehicle in the 2900 block of 59th St. W. following an attempted armed robbery and domestic aggravated assault incident, according to police.

According to the police report, Christian Tejada came to his brother, Luis Tejada's, home at 5812 1st Ave. Dr. W. at 10:35 p.m. Friday looking for money from his 28-year-old brother and his 54-year-old mother, Arlene Hernandez.

After telling him they didn't have any money, Christian Tejada pulled out a handgun and pointed it at his brother's face and demanded money. According to the report, Christian pulled the slide back which ejected one shell out and then started waving the gun around. Christian said, "You don’t know what I am capable of doing."

Both Luis Tejada and Arlene Hernandez stated they were in fear for their lives.

Luis talked Christian into going to a bank where he could take out money from the ATM for his brother. Christian agreed and followed his brother to the bank in a separate vehicle.

While en-route to the BB&T bank at 5812 Cortez Rd W, Luis called 911, and Bradenton Police had a unit waiting at the bank. Police pursued Christian's vehicle until it crashed in 2900 block of 59th St. W. 

Christian was taken into custody and Bradenton Police called the Manatee County Sheriff's Office once it was determined the crime took place in the County. BPD did charge Christian with the traffic charges related to their pursuit and a crash during the pursuit.

There were no injuries and no rounds were fired, according to the police report.
