Bradenton Pedestrian Critically Injured In Crash

BRADENTON, FL -- A 63-year-old Bradenton man was critically injured Saturday night when he was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup as he was pushing his bicycle across State Road 70, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The agency said the incident happened around 9:33 p.m. near 11th Street Circle East. The victim, who was not immediately identified, was taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton.

The driver of the pickup was identified as 44-year-old David Sheffield of Fort Myers. He was traveling with 39-year-old Samantha Sheffield also of Fort Myers. Neither were injured.

FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
