Bradenton Shooting Under Investigation

The shooting of a 22-year-old Bradenton man is under investigation by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

BRADENTON, FL — The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office says its deputies are looking for two suspects in connection with a Sunday night shooting that left a 22-year-old Bradenton man injured.

According to the agency, deputies were called to an address in the 500 block of 60th Avenue Terrace West around 10:50 p.m. July 16. When they arrived, they found Omar Mejia suffering from a gunshot wound.

Mejia was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was last listed in stable condition, a Monday morning email from the sheriff’s office said.

Mejia told authorities he was shot by two people he did not know. Descriptions of the suspects are not yet available.

Deputies are asking anyone with information about the shooting or suspects to call them at 941-747-3011. Tips may also be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling 866-634-TIPS.

No further information is being released at this time.
