Cortez Nautical Flea Market Seeks Vendors, Donors

The 19th Annual event will take place in Manatee County in October.

CORTEZ, FL – The Florida Maritime Museum is seeking vendors and donations for its 19th Annual Cortez Nautical Flea Market on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The museum is located in a 1912 schoolhouse in the historic fishing village of Cortez. The Florida Maritime Museum’s mission is to preserve and share the state’s maritime history with a focus on the Gulf Coast. It was originally founded to highlight the importance of the regional commercial fishing industry, but grew to include all aspects of Florida’ maritime history.

The Cortez Nautical Flea Market also focuses on maritime history. Vendors at the market feature new, used and eclectic maritime merchandise for sale and trade. Live music will be provided by Treble Hook.

The museum is also seeking donations of gently used boating and fishing gear to the Friends of the Florida Maritime Museum, which will be sold at its fundraising booth during the event. Proceeds from the booth will support the Florida Maritime Museum’s continued efforts to preserve and share Florida’s maritime history.

Booths for the event are $15, and vendors must supply their own tables and tents. Space is limited. The rain date for the Cortez Nautical Flea Market is Saturday, Oct. 29.

The Florida Maritime Museum is located at 4415 119th St. W. in Cortez.

For more information on making a donation or to reserve a vendor spot, call the museum at (941) 708-6121 or e-mail amara.nash@manateeclerk.com.
