Diesel Fuel Spill Shut Down Part Of U.S. 41 In Manatee County: FHP

A driver involved in the Monday night crash ran from the scene and hasn't been found yet, Florida Highway Patrol said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A diesel fuel spill shut down a portion of U.S. Highway 41 in Manatee County Monday night, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

An SUV and a van were traveling north on the highway, north of 49th Street E. just before 11 p.m.

After the SUV hit the back of the van, the van’s driver ran from the scene, FHP said.

Diesel spilled from the van onto U.S. 41, shutting it down while it was cleaned up.

The SUV’s driver, a 70-year-old Ruskin man, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
