DUI Wolfpack Set To Roam Manatee, Sarasota Counties

The Florida Highway Patrol is gearing up to take impaired motorists off roads in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

BRADENTON, FL — Folks with big party plans for the upcoming weekend will want to think twice before getting behind the wheel impaired. The Florida Highway Patrol has announced plans for a DUI Wolfpack Operation that will hit the road Friday night.

According to the agency, troopers intend to focus on Interstate 75 and major roadways in Manatee, Sarasota, Highlands, Hardee and Desoto counties. The enhanced enforcement effort is set to begin around 9 p.m. April 14 with a planned wrap up time around 5 a.m. Saturday.

“The Florida Highway Patrol organizes such details to proactively remove impaired drivers from the roadways and ultimately enhance the safety of the motoring public,” an email from the agency said.

Florida drivers are considered impaired when their blood alcohol content levels are .08 or higher. Underage drivers are considered impaired with blood alcohol content levels of .02 or higher.

Motorists who encounter impaired or aggressive drivers are asked to pull over to a safe spot and report them to FHP by dialing *FHP on their cellphones.
