2011 Legislative Update and Presentation by the Bradenton Community Redevelopment Association

Florida Redevelopment Association presents "2011 Legislative Update and Presentation by the Bradenton Community Redevelopment Association." at the Tampa Bay Regional Meeting & Lunch. Speakers will discuss the outcomes of the 2011 Legislative session and what affects the changes in the growth management law and changes to the economic development laws in Florida will have on future development.

Guest speakers are:

  • Sherod A. Halliburton is the Executive Director of Central Community Redevelopment Agency in Bradenton, where he has leveraged over $15 million in third-party funding to execute commercial redevelopment and economic development programming. He is Co-Chairman and founder of the innovative CareerEdge Funders Collaborative of Manatee & Sarasota Counties, which has amassed funding of nearly $4 million to implement leading-edge workforce development programming.
  • Anne Pollack is an Attorney with Mechanik Nuccio Hearne & Wester in Tampa.  She practices in the areas of land use, real estate, environmental and governmental relations and represents both private and governmental clients in connection with the sale, acquisition and development of real estate.  She has comprehensive experience advising clients on Development of Regional Impact, brownfield, concurrency and other land use matters, conducting land use due diligence, drafting agreements in connection with real property transactions and development projects, and representing clients before governmental boards and agencies on land development approvals.
  • Gypsy C. Gallardo is a graduate of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, with a Master's in Public Policy and dual concentrations in Political & Economic Development and International Trade & Finance. She has held executive positions with award-winning organizations in the fields of economic, commercial and small and micro business development. Although best-known for her role as publisher of the Power Broker, which is now the most widely circulated minority-owned magazine & e-zine in Florida’s Tampa Bay region, the lion share of Gypsy’s professional career has been invested in the development and deployment of ground-breaking models to measurably improve the quality of life of low-income and historically disadvantaged people.

  • Leigh Kellett Fletcher, is a Shareholder with Stearns Weaver Miller whose practice includes land use, environment and government affairs.  She works with developers, lenders and government agencies structuring public/private partnerships to facilitate redevelopment of contaminated properties, blighted neighborhoods and distressed projects.  She represents clients in negotiation of master agreements, development agreements, purchase and sale agreements, tax increment and other funding agreements related to brownfield, redevelopment, and infill projects, and in negotiations and hearings before local governments, state, and federal agencies related to environmental and land use permitting and development approvals.
