Safe Teen Driver Course at Andersen Park

Young drivers are invited to take part in a free Safe Teen Driver course entitled "TRACK — Teaching Road Awareness & Consequences to Kids" at Andersen RacePark in Palmetto. The course runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“TRACK” was developed by Bruce Murakami, who lost his wife and daughter as the result of an accident caused by teenagers who were street racing in the middle of the day. Murakami is committed to teaching as many young drivers as possible about the reality of distractions, irresponsible actions, and impairments while driving. He has received national recognition for founding Safe Teen Driver. Murakami was a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show and was interviewed by Oprah to discuss his work and the programs he has developed.

  • Classroom driving instruction
  • Demonstrations from local law enforcement
  • Hands-on DUI and distracted driving challenge
  • Catered lunch
  • Vendors with information on teen driving

Attendees must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
