BRADENTON, FL — A fast food bandit had some bad timing Sunday night when he tried to rob a KFC and Long John Silver's restaurant only to learn that the safe was on a timer.
"Since the safe is on a timer it could not be opened, and the suspect fled the store, walking westbound through the same door he had entered," said a spokesperson for the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. "The suspect left without taking any money or other items from the store."
The incident happened around 11:35 p.m. at the restaurant located at 6440 State Road 64 E in Bradenton.

Two store employees were closing up when the bandit entered the store through an unlocked side door and walked up behind the counter. He fired a single shot into the wall next to a female worker, according to the sheriff's office.

"The suspect then said 'give me all your money' and demanded that the two employees open the store safe," the spokesman said. "The suspect pushed the female employee into the back office where the safe was located."
