Free Kayak Tours, Summer Jam and More Weekend Things to Do in Bradenton

Summer Jam at Arts & Eats: The Village of the Arts restaurant, 1114 12th St. W., celebrates summer by extending its Saturday night hours from 9-11 p.m. with its "Summer Jam" musical performances. Bring your instruments and get ready to play, or just come to listen and have wine, beer, or a light bite from their kitchen. Â
Kayak Tours at DeSoto National Memorial: The park offers free ranger-led kayak tours beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 20. No experience is necessary, and they'll provide kayaks and equipment if you don't already have it. RSVP is mandatory at 941-792-0458, ext 105. Summer Sizzle at WestCoast Church: This free back-to-school bash for the community will include food provided by Outback Steakhouse, water slides, bounce houses, games, kids crafts, music and a business expo. The event begins 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3. The church is at 11750 U.S. 301 N. in Parrish.
'Where the Wild Things Are' Weekend: The Glazer Children's Museum, 110 W. Gasparilla Plaza, Tampa, brings Maurice Sendak's classic children's book to life Aug. 3-4. Kids are invited to "put on your wolf suit and get ready to cause some BIG mischief!" Find more info at glazermuseum.org.
