When/Where: Saturday 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. downtown.
Why go? The festival features "out-of-the-box" performance art, theater, dance, music, video art, and even an "art fashion show." It is designed to be interactive, offering opportunities for audiences to become part of the art and performances. Activities include body-painting, marionette shows, a custom skateboard park and the nighttime release of a thousand paper airplanes. There will be a food court and downtown restaurants and pubs will also participate. ArtSlam installations will be created “live” along Old Main Street during the eight-hour festival.

When/Where: Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at gym.
Why go? IMG Basketball Academy along with legendary coach and analyst Dick Vitale will host the Shoot Down Cancer Free Throw Shootout on Saturday to help fight cancer and raise awareness about healthy living in young people. The event was scheduled during breast cancer awareness month and will benefit breast cancer awareness as well as raise money for The V Foundation for Cancer Research, started in 1993 by NC State basketball coach Jim Valvano.

Why go? Kids can have their photo taken on a tractor, climb in the hay bale
pasture, collect moths to protect the plants and plant a butterfly garden. There will also be farm tours on the half-hour, a beekeeping discussion at 10 a.m. and a hydroponics lecture at 11 a.m. Learn about worm composting. Shop at the farm market.
