Greenbrook Park Murder Investigation Continues

Two possible suspects have been identified in the shooting death of Alexander Cherp, but no arrests have been made.

BRADENTON, FL — As the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into the death of Alexander Cherp, 23, detectives are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Cherp was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot Lakewood Ranch’s Greenbrook Park just after midnight Feb. 5. Deputies say an on-duty security guard found Cherp outside his car, a 2012 gray four-door Mercedes.

Cherp was taken to a local hospital, but died from his injuries.

Detectives believe the shooting that led to Cherp’s death happened between 11 and 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 4, a Tuesday, Feb. 14 email from the sheriff’s office said.

“Anyone who may have seen the vehicle, or people in the area of the park (Greenbrook subdivision) on that Saturday night, is asked to call the MCSO at 941-747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS,” the email said. “Detectives have identified two possible suspects in the case but no arrests have been made at this time.”

Detectives have also said they believe Cherp may have been targeted.
