Gun Charge Lands Bradenton Felon In Prison: U.S. DOJ

A Bradenton man was sentenced to federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, the U.S. DOJ said.

BRADENTON, FL — A Bradenton felon has been sentenced to federal prison on a gun charge, according to a U.S. Department of Justice news release.

Star Stewart, 39, who was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, will serve eight years and nine months behind bars.

He was convicted following a bench trial on Nov. 20, 2023.

When the U.S. Marshal Service Florida Regional Task Force arrived at a Bradenton home to arrest Stewart on Nov. 4, 2020, he was on the back patio. Though he ran into the home, officers found and arrested him.

They also found a Glock 19 with an extended magazine containing 33 rounds of ammunition in the seat where Stewart had been seated on the back patio, the DOJ said.

He later admitted that he had possessed the firearm, which he isn’t allowed to do as a convicted felon under federal law.
