Hazardous Weather Outlook: Rip Current, Choppy Seas

Strong and gusting northwest winds are blowing palm trees in the Sunshine State today.

Boaters and beach goers also are being warned of the rough conditions along the coast. There's a moderate risk of rip currents, according to the National Weather Service.

The high winds are blowing behind a cold front that is sweeping across the Tampa Bay region today, from Manatee and Sarasota to Tarpon Springs.

Along the beaches, the wind gusts are creating choppy seas. The winds will not decrease until tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
