Elementary school students in Marion County might be the envy of others across the state when those first bells of the 2017-18 academic year ring in August. Superintendent Heidi Maier on Wednesday instituted a ban on homework at the 31 public elementary schools across the county.

Missing Woman, 71, Found ‘Cold, Confused’ In Canal
A 71-year-old woman reported missing by her family on Tuesday was reunited with her loved ones hours later after Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies found her in a canal near her home. Deputies say Lillian Morales “was cold, confused and covered with insect bites,” but otherwise was OK.

The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest two people wanted in connection with a July 7 attack on a man in Land O’ Lakes.
The Pinellas Park Police Department has confirmed the identity of a man whose body was pulled from Tampa Bay on Wednesday. Police say Ryan Andrew Mogensen, 28, had been reported missing by his family on Monday.
