Horse Killed, Others Injured In Manatee County Crash: Reports

A horse was killed and other horses and people were seriously injured in Manatee County crash, reports said.

BRADENTON, FL — A horse was killed and others, including seven horses and two people, were seriously injured in a Friday night crash on State Road 70 near County Road 675 in East Manatee County, according to the Bradenton Herald.

The two people transporting the trailer were seriously injured in the crash, one requiring surgery, the Herald said.

Florida Beach Horses, which offers horseback rides in Palma Sola Bay, launched a GoFundMe fundraising campaign after the crash. Nearly $111,000 of the company’s $30,000 goal was raised as of Monday morning.

“We are reaching out for support after a devastating accident that has left a community reeling. Our Florida Beach Horses truck & trailer, carrying eight beloved horses was t-boned and tragically flipped, leaving all the horses injured, one of them tragically deceased,” the company said. “The two individuals transporting the trailer also sustained serious injuries with one requiring surgery and a long road to recovery.”

The company’s "beloved" horse Hoss was killed in the crash, Florida Beach Horses said in Facebook posts, adding, “We are so devastated and have absolutely no words for any of this.”

Among the other animals recovering in the crash is Naomi, who had a large gash on their front leg that went to the tendon and muscles, and Sparkles, who among other injuries had to have her jaw wired and had a damaged hind leg, the company posted to Facebook
