Hurricane Irma Victims In Manatee County To Get Free Meals
Victims of Hurricane Irma in Manatee County will be provided with free meals Tuesday at the Renaissance on 9th Street.

BRADENTON, FL - Hungry Manatee County hurricane victims will have the opportunity to get a free meal in Bradenton on Tuesday. The Food Bank of Manatee County will be distributing meals and water at the Renaissance on 9th Street from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
“In an effort to serve our community heavily impacted by Irma, The Food Bank of Manatee has coordinated the following distribution to ensure food, water and supplies are delivered to families still recovering from the storm,” according to a Food Bank press release.
The organization also gave out meals and water on Monday. It was joined by the owners of Cleveland Kitchen in Lakewood Ranch, which passed out hot meals to county residents.

The Food Bank is partnering with a number of businesses to collect needed shelf stable non-perishable food items for county residents struggling in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Residents in need of food should go to www.foodbankofmanatee.org to locate the nearest food pantry for assistance.

The Food Bank of Manatee is operated by Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee. The food bank has been open since 1985 and has provided over 25 million pounds of food, along with supportive services in the community.
The Food Bank is the primary distribution point of food to over 115 food pantries and agencies, and is the only Feeding America hunger relief organization in Manatee County.
In Sarasota County, comfort stations are still available where people can recharge in an air-conditioned location with water and cellphone charging. The locations open Tuesday are: Longboat Key Town Hall – 501 Bay Isles Road (9 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Friday, Sept. 22) and Unity of Sarasota – 3023 Proctor Road (10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Thursday, Sept. 21).
