(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) opened its doors to nearly 2600 students on Monday, marking the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

Some Mustangs are very enthusiastic for the start of the new year.

"I'm so excited for my sophomore year, I'm really hoping to meet a bunch of new people,” said sophomore Taylor Knoll.

Junior Ashlyn Jones shared, "This new school year will be an exciting and opening new year for college and extracurricular activities."

Junior Amanda Walters said, "I'm glad to be back for my junior year. I’m very excited to get into my classes and extracurriculars.”

LRHS Principal Dustin Dahlquist said Mustangs can make this the first day of a great year.

“I saw a lot of students today excited to get back to school,” he said. “Getting and staying involved in the classroom and with extracurricular activities is the best way to keep that enthusiasm going.”

The rest of the week features grade level assemblies on Wednesday. School counselors will start considering schedule changes on Wednesday, as well.
