BRADENTON, FL — As the Florida Highway Patrol investigates a Sunday night hit-and-run crash that left a 19-year-old Bradenton man critically injured, troopers are asking for help identifying the motorist involved.

According to the patrol, an unknown vehicle was heading south on 12th Street East just before 9 p.m. Sept. 24. As the vehicle approached a driveway in the 5900 block, troopers say its left mirror struck pedestrian Johnnie Schoolfield in the head.

The impact thrust Schoolfield into a nearby ditch, a patrol report said. The vehicle’s driver did not stop, troopers say.
