Man, 42, Charged In Bradenton Bank Robbery

A Palmetto man has been charged in connection with a Thursday robbery at a Bradenton bank.

BRADENTON, FL — A 42-year-old Palmetto man is behind bars after Manatee County Sheriff’s deputies say he robbed a Bradenton Wells Fargo branch Thursday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office announced the arrest of Kevin Potts on Friday. Deputies reportedly developed Potts as a suspect shortly after the robbery. When they went to his Palmetto home to bring him into custody, however, they found him incapacitated.

“He was transported to the hospital for treatment from a suspected drug overdose,” an email from the sheriff’s office said.

Potts was booked into the Manatee County Jail on a charged of armed robbery after he received medical clearance. No bond had been set as of Friday afternoon.

The robbery that led to Potts’ arrest took place around 1:30 p.m. April 20 at the 404 53rd Ave. W. Wells Fargo. Potts is accused of walking into the bank, passing a teller a note and demanding cash. He is also accused of implying he had a gun.

No injuries were reported in the robbery.
