Man, 74, Beaten At Home, Hospitalized: Manatee County Sheriff’s Office

The suspect confessed to beating the 74-year-old victim and forcing pills down his throat, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.

PARRISH, FL — A man was charged with attempted murder after severely beating a 74-year-old man in the Del Webb community in Parrish on Sunday afternoon, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies responded to reports of possible domestic violence at the home in the 8300 block of Ocean Tide Circle just before 3 p.m.

When they arrived, they found the suspect, 54-year-old Robert Carter, covered in blood at the front door, the sheriff’s office said.

The victim was found lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

Carter confessed to beating the victim and forcing handfuls of pills down his throat.

He was arrested and taken into custody while the victim was transported to a local hospital as a trauma alert.

The victim, whose injuries included a swollen left eye and severe head trauma, is currently listed in stable condition.

Carter is also hospitalized for injuries he received during the incident.
