Man Badly Beaten While Dropping Off Child at Braden River Elementary
The beating Thursday morning was an apparent case of road rage.

A man who was taking his 10-year-old son to was attacked and badly beaten by another man Thursday morning in an apparent case of road rage, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report.
The 50-year-old told deputies that another man, driving a black, two-door sports car, had been tailgating him on the way to the school. When he and his son arrived at the parking lot of Braden River Elementary, the suspect got out of his car to confront the man, who still had his son with him.
The victim would not get out of his vehicle. Once the victim thought that the other man left the parking lot, he and his son got out of their vehicle to walk into the school. That's when the suspect apparently attacked the man, the report said.

The victim sustained a broken rib, separated shoulder, partially collapsed lung, and several cuts and bruises to his face. He was transported to .

Dave Bristow, a spokesman for the sheriff's department, said they are working leads now and hope to have an arrest later Thursday. Bristow said the best witness in the case is the man's 10-year-old son.
