Man Charged With Sexual Battery of 3-Year-Old

A 49-year-old Bradenton man was arrested today on charges of sexual battery involving a 3-year-old child, according to a Bradenton Police report.

Bradenton Police were called to the City Walk Condos in the 2000 block of 5th Street West this morning to investigate the sexual battery complaint.

The suspect was identified as Leroy Junior Chandler of Bradenton. Chandler is a registered sexual offender in Florida.

Detectives found Chandler in the 900 block of 34th Avenue West at about 3:30 p.m. today. After they arrested Chandler, detectives say that Chandler confessed. He was charged with one count of capital sexual battery and one count of false imprisonment.

Additional charges are pending.

Chandler's criminal record includes a 1999 conviction of sexual battery against a child 12 or older who was physicially incapacitated. He was charged in 2006 with failing to register as a sexual offender.
