Man Jailed Following Altercation With Elderly Mother-in-Law

42-year-old Stephen D. Kovarsky was arrested Sunday afternoon on multiple charges following an altercation with his 72-year-old mother-in-law.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office report, deputies responded to a call at 1709 Zipperer Rd. in Bradenton at around 1:30 p.m.

After responding to the call, deputies realized the subject had fled the scene prior to their arrival. 

According to the report, the subject was later found down the road with an injury to his wrist that required medical attention.

When contacted by the officers, the offender was non-compliant. After giving the subject several warnings, the officers utilized a Taser device in order to gain control of the subject and provide medical attention for his wrist.

After being transported to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center by EMS personnel on scene, deputies learned during their investigation that Kovasky committed an act of battery against his mother-in-law, and he was in violation of a court ordered injunction for protection with his wife.

Upon receiving treatment at LWRMC, Kovarsky was released and transported to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office jail, according to the police report.
