Man Walking Along Road Dies After Stepping In Car’s Path: FL Troopers

A 74-year-old Bradenton died after being hit by a car on Lockwood Ridge Road on Friday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

BRADENTON, FL — A 74-year-old Bradenton man died after being hit by a car while walking along Lockwood Ridge Road on Friday night, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. just south of 55th Avenue Drive East.

The man, who was walking east, stepped into the travel lanes of Lockwood Ridge Road in front of the car, which was heading south.

The car, driven by a 90-year-old Bradenton man, hit the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said.

The driver and his passenger, a 91-year-old Bradenton woman, were uninjured in the crash.
