BRADENTON, FL — Three Manatee County cities will hold elections on Tuesday but only one is contested.

Voters will go to the polls in Holmes Beach, Anna Maria and Bradenton Beach.

Four candidates are vying for three commission seats in Holmes Beach.

Incumbent Commissioners Rick Hurst, a youth sports coach; Jim Kihm, who held various managerial positions in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry and Carol Soustek, who was a corporate accountant, will all attempt to hold their seats.

The incumbents are being challenged by Terry Schaefer, a former senior banking executive and Illinois school board member. Schaefer raised more money than any of his opponents.

Voters in Holmes Beach will also consider two charter amendments.

Charter amendment No. 1 asks whether the charter should be amended to accurately reflect all land within the corporate limits of the city.

Charter amendment No. 2 asks whether the charter should be amended to require an ordinance "selling, vacating, conveying, transferring or abandoning city-owned real property and rights of way be approved by a super majority vote of the commission and a subsequent referendum at a general election and to require a super majority vote of the commission to lease or permit use of real property, restricting such leases or permits to five years or less?"

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Holmes Beach voting will take place at Precinct 303 / Precinct 305 — St. Bernard Catholic Church, 248 Harbor Dr. S, Holmes Beach, Florida.

Bradenton Beach

Incumbent Mayor John Chappie is running unopposed to lead the city for another term.

Incumbent Commissioner Jacob E. Spooner is also running unopposed to keep his Ward 1 seat while former Commissioner Janet E Vosburgh is running unopposed for the Ward 3 seat.

Anna Maria

Incumbent Commissioner Carol A. Carter is running unopposed to keep her seat while Jonathan B Crane and former Commissioner Janet E Vosburgh are also running unopposed for seats on the city commission.
