FL Man Gets Prison Time For Selling Fentanyl To Undercover Federal Agents, U.S. DOJ Says

A Palmetto man with a prior drug conviction was sentenced to federal prison after selling fentanyl to undercover agents, the U.S. DOJ said.

PALMETTO, FL — A Manatee County man was sentenced recently to 17 years and six months in federal prison for conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, a U.S. Department of Justice news release said.

Traveous Anderson, 39, of Palmetto pleaded guilty to the charges on Aug. 27.

Drug Enforcement Administration undercover agents bought fentanyl three times, totaling about 28 grams, from Anderson in April and May 2024, the DOJ said.

He was arrested on May 22, 2024 after bringing another 55.9 grams of fentanyl to a Sarasota hotel.

At the time, Anderson was on federal supervised release for a prior conviction for distributing fentanyl.

His co-defendant, Alexis Soto Escalante, was sentenced to five years and 10 months in federal prison on June 18, the DOJ said.
