Manatee County Republican Party to Select Delegates for Presidential Straw Poll
More than 3,000 delegates from across the state will participate in major political event to help determine the eventual GOP nominee for president

Manatee County Republicans will meet at the Saturday to choose delegates to participate in a key event in choosing the next Republican nominee for president.
Local Republicans will meet from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM to select Manatee County delegates to participate in the Republican Party of Florida’s “Presidency 5” Florida Straw Poll in September. The total Manatee County delegation will be made up of 69 delegates.

Presidency 5 will be the first major event of the 2012 campaign season and will give presidential candidates the chance to convey their priorities directly to Floridians. Delegates will have the opportunity to participate in a straw poll that has forecast the Republican nominee for president in the past. Manatee County will select 63 delegates at the caucus meeting. The total Manatee County delegation will be made up of 69 delegates.
“It’s time to restore Conservative values in the White House and to repeat the Republican election successes of last November," said David Bitner, Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida. "Florida is a key battleground state and Florida voters will play a pivotal role in determining our next President,” said David Bitner, Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida.

Kathleen King, Chairman of the Republican Party of Manatee County, predicted Republicans will take back the White House in 2012.
“All registered Manatee County Republicans are encouraged to join us and to enjoy some good old-fashioned fun with door prizes, refreshments and music while we select the Manatee County delegation," King said.
The event is open to all registered Republicans. All guests will be required to present their Republican voter registration card at the door. All Delegate applicants will be required to present their current Republican voter registration card and a current Florida Driver‘s license or photo Identification card at the door.
Presidency 5 will take place from September 22 to 24 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. It will include a nationally-televised debate to be broadcast on FOX News Channel.
