Manatee County’s Oldest Home Has $2.15M Asking Price: Realtor

BRADENTON, FL — The oldest home in Manatee County has hit the market with a $2.15 million price tag, according to a news release from Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s Downtown Sarasota office.

The landmark residence, the Bartholomew Fogarty House, is at 3101 Riverview Blvd. in Bradenton.

The three-story, five-bedroom, 4.5-bath home “has been impeccably restored to honor its 153-year legacy while introducing refined modern amenities,” Premier Sotheby’s said.

The property, which sits on a half-acre near the Manatee River and backing to Lewis Park, is being marketed exclusively by Thomas Netzel and his team.

The Fogarty brothers, mariners who established a thriving community and built a boatyard, mercantile, and essential structures in the 1860s, were issued 135 acres by the state, creating the foundations of what is now Bradenton, the realtor said.

Their former home, originally crafted from reclaimed ship parts, was built in 1871 by Captain Bartholomew “Tole” Fogarty, one of Bradenton’s founders.

Led by the expert craftsmanship of David Windham Construction, retired veterinarian Dr. Harolod Ott completed a dedicated revival of the home, Premier Sotheby’s said.

The two-year renovation preserved hallmark features such as the original oak flooring, finely carved interior doors and the grand wooden staircase.

The restoration involved elevating the home and incorporating centralized air conditioning throughout it. Other enhancements included creating a spacious, open flow and reconfiguring the upper-level bedrooms to incorporate walk-in closets and en-suite baths.

“Of particular note is the third level, an enchanting space designed for children, offering dormer-ceilinged bedrooms, a cozy den, and playful features that evoke a timeless fairytale charm,” the realtor said.
