Manatee High School Lockdown Prompted By Suicide Attempt: Police

Bradenton police say a person was hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday after a suicide attempt.

BRADENTON, FL — A Wednesday morning lockdown at Manatee High School was prompted by a report of a person nearby that was armed with a gun, according to Bradenton Police.

Officers received the report about the person with a gun around 11 a.m. Feb. 8. Since the report came in from an area close to the high school’s campus, the facility was placed on lockdown for about five minutes, police reported in a Wednesday afternoon email to media.

Officers say the person with the gun was found in the rear of a home in the 1200 block of 32nd Street West. That person was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
