Marijuana Grower Will Not Be Charged

A Parrish man will not be prosecuted for growing marijuana plants, which his wife uses to ease the symptoms of ALS.

Prosecutors will not bring charges against a Parrish man who cultivates marijuana for his wife, who has Lou Gehrig's disease, according to MySuncoast.com.

The State Attorney's Office has declined to prosecute Robert Jordan,
64, because it is believed he could successfully mount a medical necessity defense in court.

According to MySuncoast.com: The State Attorney's Office says her doctor verified the use of the drug helps with her condition.

The Jordans' home was raided by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office in February. At the time, the plants were confiscated and the case was referred to prosecutors.

The Jordans have lobbied in Tallahassee for marijuana legalization for
years.
