Mixon’s in the Grove Expands Wedding, Party Facilities

BRADENTON, FL – Mixon Fruit Farms has expanded many times since Rosa and Willie Mixon opened their roadside fruit stand with a 20-acre grove in 1939. Now at 350 acres, the farm now features a 350-acre grove, a retail store a processing plant and more than 120 employees.

The farm also features Mixon’s in the Grove, the family’s venue for weddings, meetings and parties. And, just like the farm itself, Mixon’s in the Grove is expanding once more.

Mixon’s Fruit Farms will host its grand opening for its Farm House Inn and Mixon’s Amazing Play Place on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The farm is located at 2525 27th St. E. in Bradenton.

The Farm House Inn sleeps 13 people, giving wedding parties an on-site accommodations, especially for the many destination weddings Mixon’s hosts. The Farm House, which can also accommodate a wedding party’s rehearsal dinner, will feature a history of the farm.

Mixon’s Amazing Play Place is a new play area with 27,000 sq. ft. of artificial turf, a three-hole putting green, a giant chess set, corn hole, a water slide and more.

“We wanted to make a place for birthday parties, class reunions, corporate parties, weddings and just a cool place to bring your kids for the day,” said Janet Mixon, the owner of Mixon Fruit Farm.

Representatives from both the Manatee and Anna Maria Island chambers of commerce will be on hand during the grand opening for a ribbon cutting ceremony.
