Mother, Baby Sought In Manatee County

BRADENTON, FL -- Manatee County sheriff's deputies are searching for a 24-year-old mother and her 4-month-old son.

"Detectives are trying to locate Martha Smith and her 4-month old son, Arthur Douglas Jackson following a court hearing involving custody," said a spokesperson for the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The agency released photographs of the woman and child in the hope that someone has seen them.

"Martha has failed to contact detectives who want to check on the welfare of Arthur," the sheriff's office said, adding that the mother and child are believed to be in the Manatee County area.

"No other details of the investigation are available at this time," the sheriff's office said.
