BRADENTON, FL — A 20-year-old Sarasota man is in critical condition following a Thursday afternoon crash on U.S. 41 at Braden Avenue.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Patricia Fodor, 70, of Bradenton was heading south on U.S. 41 just before 3 p.m. Jan. 12. Fodor entered the left turn lane north of Braden Avenue and was approaching a solid green traffic signal, a highway patrol report said.

At that time a motorcycle driven by Brett Jenkins of Sarasota was traveling north on U.S. 41 in the right travel lane south of Braden Avenue. Troopers say Jenkins also approached the intersection under a solid green signal.

Fodor, the report said, failed to see Jenkins’ motorcycle and made a left turn to head east on Braden. Her Kia entered the path of Jenkins’ bike, causing a collision. Troopers say Jenkins was thrown over Fodor’s Kia and onto the road.

Jenkins was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries following the crash. Fodor and her passenger both suffered minor injuries and were also taken to a local hospital for treatment. Fodor was cited for failure to yield, the report said.
