New Locally-Owned Neighborhood Pet Store Creates a Pet Lover's Haven

Pet Supplies Plus opened a location on March 3rd at in the Creekside Commons shopping area, 8900 US Highway 301 North Suite 101 in Parrish. The store offers local pet parents a hassle-free way to find better products for their pets, while saving them money and celebrating the fun of pet ownership. In addition, the store offers amenities such as a grooming salon, live small animals and fish, self-pet wash stations, a knowledgeable pet care team and carry-out service in which team members carry heavy items to neighbors’ cars along with curbside pickup from online ordering.

The store is owned by local residents, Marla and Paul Axelrod, who have had a passion for pets all their lives. Throughout their more than 30 years of marriage, they have been blessed to welcome several pets into their family and currently own two dogs and three cats. After working in various professional fields, the Axelrods were searching for their next venture and realized the pet industry was a perfect fit for them. A lifelong passion for pets and drive for entrepreneurship has led them to bringing the Parrish community a Pet Supplies Plus.

Pet Supplies Plus of Parrish will have adoptable cats from local shelters on its premises and will regularly host dog adoption events. The store will also bring Dr. Kristina Ramer, local veterinarian and owner of Walk-In Veterinary Care, to the store starting on March 25th for routine vaccination clinics and more.

“The therapeutic value of having pets in our lives is priceless,” said Marla. “Since opening in early March, it’s been an incredible experience to see so many neighbors walk through our doors with this undying love and commitment to their pets. Being able to supply the Parrish community with a store that supports the health, happiness and wellbeing of local animals, and work with local rescues, brings a smile to my face and is a constant reminder of how meaningful this work is.”

To welcome the community, the Axelrods and their team will host a weekend-long grand opening event. Beginning on Saturday, April 1st and continuing through Sunday, April 2nd, the new Pet Supplies Plus will offer special prize giveaways, sale prices and more. The primary giveaways are as follows:

• Saturday, April 1– Sunday, April 2 – Neighbors have a shot at winning a complimentary, one-year supply of dog or cat food.
• Saturday, April 1– Sunday, April 2 – Pet Supplies Plus will offer free dog washes for pets.
• Saturday, April 1 – Mystery scratch cards, between the amounts of $5-$10, will be given to neighbors throughout the day.
• Sunday, April 2 – First 100 people will receive one free small bag of Redford dog food
