Patrols Stepped Up at County Fair, After Threats Received

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has increased patrols at the Manatee County Fair, after receiving information from an anonymous source that a "gang-related shooting" will take take place at the Palmetto event.

The Sheriff's Office notified the public Thursday that the information now has shown up on social media sites as well. According to the Sheriff's Office, "The same type of threat was received prior to last year’s fair and like this year’s threat, there is no credible evidence to validate the information."

Law enforcement officials are continuing to work with fair officials to ensure the safety of fair visitors.  "This includes a strong presence of law enforcement and a security check at all entrances of the fair," according to the Sheriff's Office.
