Pedestrian Killed On I-75 Near University Parkway: FL Highway Patrol

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Traffic is congested Tuesday evening on Interstate 75 South in Manatee County after a pedestrian was killed on the road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

A crash involving a vehicle and the pedestrian at mile marker 214, near University Parkway, is under investigation, the agency said. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Only the right southbound lane remained open on I-75 during the investigation as of 5:30 p.m., FHP said. Drivers are urged to use caution when traveling through the area.
