Pilot Walks Away From Ultra-Light Plane Crash

The plane lost power upon takeoff and crashed off Mendoza Road.

A 47-year-old pilot from Palmetto crashed his ultra-light plane Sunday on Mendoza Road, but walked away from the accident, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

At 2:45 p.m., pilot Randy Roman took off in his Blue Rotax 447 Ultra-Light, when the plane lost power. The plane clipped some tree tops before crashing. The accident occurred along the 3200 block of Mendoza Road. The plane was a total loss, and will be transported back to the airfield.
