Play Pokémon Go With Bradenton Marauders At McKechnie Field

Fans can join baseball players on the field to hunt Pokémon after the game.

BRADENTON, FL – The craze that has taken over the nation will invade McKechnie Field this weekend.

The Bradenton Marauders will host Pokémon Day at McKechnie Field on Sunday, July 24 as they take on the Daytona Tortugas at 1 p.m. Fans will be allowed onto the field after the game to hunt Pokémon alongside several Marauders players.

The Marauders will be dropping lures during their game with the Tortugas, making the field a perfect place for Pokémon trainers to capture their favorite characters.

According to Bradenton Marauders staff, McKechnie Field has become a habitat for numerous Pokémon. Pokémon characters from Pikachu to Pidgeotto have been spotted roaming the ballpark.

Between innings, contests will include “Name that Pokémon,” “Find that Pokémon” and other activities with a Pokémon Go theme. The first 200 fans to bring a picture of a Pokémon being caught at McKechnie Field to the Guest Relations Booth will receive a single Pokémon card. Also, a 25 percent discount will be available at the team merchandise store for fans who show pictures of Pokémon being caught at McKechnie Field.

The July 24 game is also part of the Suncoast Park in the Park series presented by ABC 7. Fans can purchase Bark Badges for dog admission for $2. Money raised from Bark Badge sales will be donated to the Human Society of Manatee County. (The Marauders will strictly enforce the rule that no Pokémon trainers will be allowed to capture dogs.)

Gates will open at noon for the game. McKechnie Field is located at 1611 Ninth St. W. in Bradenton.
