Polite Purse Snatcher Targeted Bradenton Woman, Deputies Say

BRADENTON, FL — The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is on the hunt for a man deputies say targeted a Bradenton woman Thursday night in her apartment complex.

According to the agency, the 58-year-old woman got out of her vehicle in the parking lot of her 3340 Lake Bayshore Drive apartment complex around 9:30 p.m. Dec. 29. As the woman walked toward her apartment building, deputies say a man rode up on a bicycle.

“As he reached her, he stated ‘excuse me,’” the agency wrote in an email to media. When the woman turned, the man snatched her purse and took off on the bike.

Deputies say the woman’s purse contained $40 in cash, her ID, cellphone, credit cards and other items. No injuries were reported in the attack.

Deputies have not released a detailed description of the suspect. No further information is available at this time.
