Record Tourism In Bradenton Area In 2021 Despite COVID-19: Report

Nearly 1 million tourists visited Manatee County last year, which had a $1.3 billion economic impact on the region, reports said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Manatee County saw a record number of tourists last year, surpassing its pre-pandemic levels.

In 2021, the Bradenton area recorded 969,300 visitors, Anne Wittine with Research Data Services said during a Manatee County Tourist Development Council meeting Monday, the Bradenton Herald reported.

These tourists had a $1.3 billion economic impact on the region – an increase from the year before. In 2020, the economic impact of tourism in Manatee County was $908.9 million.

And it looks as though 2022 is starting out strong as well, with 89 percent of hotels and other accommodations booked in January, which is about the same rate or better than the year before, Wittine said.
